Find a Good Book

The IPL staff can help you find that next great read. Lists and recommendations are also available online. Visit the Summer Reading Challenge lists or Novelist: an online tool to help you find books. We recommend these great bookish websites: Goodreads, YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association, Teenreads, and GraphicNovelReporter. Or try the Teen Book Finder app developed by YALSA.

Teen Life

Homework Help This service offers free homework help from subject specialists. Live one-to-one help is available 3:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. for academic subjects and 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. for Job Search Assistance. Free Tutoring in all subjects, including help for the Adult Learner.

Volunteer
Teen volunteers help with programs, help organize the teen book section, clean, help with displays, and work on special projects. To become a teen volunteer at IPL, complete the application and recommendation forms. For more information, call or visit the library and ask for Michelle.

Teen Service Club
The IPL teen service club is open to any service-minded teen that wants to make a positive impact on the community. They help plan teen programs and work on special service projects to help the community. For meeting times, check out the events calendar. Testing Resources

Learning Express Library has practice tests to help you prepare for the next phase of your life. That includes: GED, ACT, SAT, and career prep. Don’t let the name Homework Alabama fool you. That resource can help you prepare for the GED and college entrance exams too.

Financial Aid

The first step when applying for financial aid is to fill out the FAFSA.  Find more resources and helpful information at the Alabama Commission of Higher Education, including the application for the  Alabama Student Grant Program.

Finding a Job

Homework Alabama offers one-to-one, real-time assistance with your job search. Online tutors are available to help navigate job sites, complete applications, write/review resumes and cover letters and even practice for an interview.
