Earlier this year the Irondale City Council approved a resolution to implement a city wide road paving project. The intent of the project was to prioritize and then proactively improve the city’s most damaged streets. Sain Engineering Associates was hired by the city to project manage this key initiative.
Each city councilor worked with Sain Engineering Associates to prioritize streets in their district to be included in the initial phase of the project. The following streets have been identified for paving currently and in the near future:
- Cross Timbers Lane
- Riverbrook Road
- Fulmar Drive
- LaSalle Lane
- Ewell Lane
- Belmont Drive
- Bainbridge Trace Subdivision, Phase II
This project also includes completely re-working the intersection of 16th Street and 2nd Avenue North, adding new stripping on streets in the Holiday Gardens and Stoneridge subdivisions and adding a traffic light at the intersection of Overton Road and Grants Mill Road.
According to City Council president, Terry Bearden, ” Improving our city streets and infrastructure is vital to Irondale’s future.”
