The “Irondale Cop Stop Program” has received overwhelming recognition throughout Irondale for it’s unique approach in building stronger relationships between the Irondale Police Department and the communities they serve. The latest event was featured on both AL.com and WIAT Channel 42 News.
Irondale Police Department met with Latino immigrants at a block party-style event outside a small Mexican grocery store next to an immigrant-majority trailer park on the outskirts of Irondale on Saturday.
Co-hosted by the police department and the community development organization Irondale on the Move, the meet-up was initially met with fear and trepidation on the part of area residents, many of whom are undocumented.
