SUMMARY:Whistlestop Duathlon
DESCRIPTION:Team-Magic will host the Whistlestop Duathlon on Saturday\, March 28 in Irondale!åÊThis world-class biking and running event is part of the 2015 USAT Duathlon Race Series and this year will also serve as the Southeast USAT Duathlon Regional Championship. They’ve already received registrations from nine different states\, including California! \nDespite its championship status\, however\, Irondale and Birmingham area amateur athletes of all ages are encouraged to participate as well!åÊ Here is a schedule of events.åÊ You can register here.åÊAlthough they accept registrations on race day if the race isn’t full\, you’ll want to pre-register to save a little money and to get a t-shirt! \nThe Whistlestop Duathlon will attract athletes from across the country\, so we want to help supply the event with plenty of help.åÊ Click here for more information about volunteering.åÊ The GICC challenges its members to support the race as a volunteer on the “Irondale Chamber Crew” if you aren’t participating in an event.åÊ Just indicate you’re volunteering as part of our group\, unless you represent another organization.\nSponsorships for the race are still available.åÊ If you’re interested\, contact Therese Bynam.\nTeam-Magic was started by Therese Bynam in the 1980s. SUMMARY:Whistle Stop Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:The city of Irondale is privileged to play host to the Whistle Stop Half Marathon\, 5K\, and 1.5 mile races on Saturday\, September 26\, 2015.åÊ These races will attract top-level competitors from around the country\, who will get to see our fair city up close and personal. They will also be able to experience The 2015 Whistle Stop Festival! \nThe races will begin at Grants Mill Station\, the 5K (map) at 7:30 AM and the half marathon (map) at 8:00 AM.åÊ The 1.5 mile fun run/walk (map) will begin at Grants Mill Animal Hospital at 10:00 AM\, and all proceeds benefit Hand in Paw.åÊ The races all end in front of the Red Caboose on 1st Avenue South in historic downtown Irondale – right in the middle of the Festival! \nFor more information and the races and to register\,click here. \nThe Chamber is honored to have Team Magic as a member that brings such quality events to Irondale – and all the visitors to our businesses!åÊ They will need over 100 volunteers for this event!
