Summer Reading 2021

Readers and listeners of all ages can participate in summer reading May 24-July 31!
This year’s summer reading features a variety of reading and related activities to choose from.

How it works:

  • Choose from nearly 40 different activities from reading a book set in the summer to watching a movie based on a book. You do NOT need to complete every activity.
  • Log your activities online or on paper (more details below)
  • Earn a prize for every five activities you complete (up to five prizes).

To get started, visit or download the Beanstack app. For an offline option, or pick up a copy of our Reading Activities list from the library or print one here: land animals theme or sea life theme (activities are the same).

Not sure what to read for some of the activities? Find suggestions at More book lists will be added throughout the summer.

Each book/audiobook may only be counted for one activity unless otherwise noted.

Complete 5 activities from the Summer Reading Activities and earn a prize. Limit 5 prizes. Choose from the prizes for your age group at the library. Prefer curbside pickup? Call 205-951-1415 to ask for prize selections.

Get an entry for the grand prize drawing for every activity you complete (up to 25). Grand prizes are age group specific (see below). Prizes must be picked up by August 13 and cannot be mailed.
