Yesterday the Irondale Exchange Club celebrated their 30 year anniversary at a special luncheon held at Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve. The Exchange Club of Irondale has played a key role in the growth of the City of Irondale since it’s inception in 1986. Numerous Irondale public officials and Irondale Mayor Tommy Joe Alexander joined members of the Exchange Club to celebrate their numerous accomplishments.
According to long time Exchange Club member Jim Schoen, ” The Exchange Club has served as an incubator for numerous programs that still exist today in Irondale. This includes; organizing the first Whistle Stop Festival, starting the Greater Irondale Chamber of Commerce, city-wide beautification efforts along Crestwood Boulevard and installing flags along Highway 78.
During the ceremony a special service award was presented to Max Bynum and Jim Schoen for their many years of service and dedication to the Exchange Club.
” Irondale is a better city thanks to the efforts and dedication of the Exchange Club for the past 30 years,?” stated Mayor Tommy Joe Alexander.
