Last Saturday numerous Irondale residents in District 5 ( Bobby Joe Wilson, Councilor) were treated to music, food, fun and an opportunity to meet Irondale police officers and elected officials during the second Irondale Police Cop Stop. The Irondale Cop Stop program is a new community renewal program aimed at building stronger relationships between Irondale neighborhoods, elected officials and police officers.

During Saturday’s event guest residents were treated to free hot dogs, hot chocolate and popcorn during a block party. Among residents attending the block party was University of Alabama starting defensive end, Daron Payne.
According to Irondale Police Chief, Ken Atkinson, ” It’s wonderful to see citizens interacting in a laid back environment with neighbors they’ve never met, police officers assigned to their neighborhood, their city councilor- Bobby Joe Wilson and Irondale Mayor, Charles Moore. It don’t get any better than this !!
The Irondale Cop Stop is successful in large part due to a partnership between the Irondale Police Department, Irondale On the MOVE and the Holiday Gardens Neighborhood Association. Plans are to have Irondale Cop Stops in each Irondale District throughout 2017.
