Probably not many people outside the little neighborhood at Talmedge and East Ventura Streets know about its existence, but a vacant lot is being converted to beautiful greenspace for the community.
With the help of a $2,000 grant from Alabama Power Co., Irondale City Councilperson Donna Pike is gradually trying to bring a beautiful green area to this neighborhood. This is a work in progress, but some sidewalks have been laid and grass planted. Plans are underway to add some play equipment, a park sign, and eventually a pavilion.
In a recent Irondale On The Move community survey, greenspaces was identified as an essential amenity needed for enhancing the quality of life for Irondale’s citizens, businesses and visitors.
